If you are looking for a team that brings out the best in each other, a team that has fun and are proud of their work - we want to hear from you! The Hampton Inn & Suites - Kelowna Airport and the Four Points by Sheraton Kelowna Airport are currently looking to fill the Director of Operations role.
In this dual property role, the Director of Operations is responsible for effectively managing and overseeing the day to day activities of the hotels operations.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for the day-to-day hotel operations to ensure smooth flow of hotel services and act as escalation contact.
  • Strong understanding of hotel operations with a focus on Food & Beverage.
  • Directly responsible for customer service, hotel cleanliness and curb appeal.
  • Reviews guest feedback with leadership team and ensures appropriate corrective action is taken.
  • Stays visible and interfaces with customers on a regular basis to obtain feedback on quality of product, service levels and overall satisfaction.
  • Creates an atmosphere in all Rooms and Food and Beverage areas that meets or exceeds guest expectations.
  • Assist the Head of departments in developing and managing budgets.
  • Accountable for overall success of the Hotels operational departments.
  • Monitors the department's actual and projected sales to ensure revenue goals are met or exceeded and opportunities are identified and addressed.
  • Ensure cash control and liquor control policies are in place in food & beverage areas and followed by all related employees.
  • Focus on maintaining profit margins without compromising guest or employee satisfaction.
  • Utilizes interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage others; advocates sound financial/business decision making; demonstrates honesty/integrity; leads by example.
  • Encourages and builds mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members.
  • Achieves and exceeds goals including performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.
  • Serves as a role model to demonstrate appropriate behaviors.
  • Development means improving profit, including estimating cost and benefit, exploring new business opportunities, etc.
  • Identifies opportunities to increase profits and create value by challenging existing processes, encouraging innovation and driving necessary changes.
  • Hands on approach to leadership and working with department heads on development and implementation relating to strategy and brand standards.
  • Guide, mentor and motivate operational leaders to meet and exceed targets.
  • Ensure all statutory regulations for safety and security for both employees and guests are maintained.
  • Ensure all staff is aware of daily activities taking place in the hotel.
  • Ensure compliance with both Hilton and Marriott productivity and brand standards, Lead the success of properties Brand Standard audits and Quality Assurance audit.
  • Reviews all departmental schedules for accuracy, staffing demands, and make adjustments as required.
  • Participate in community and industry organizations as the primary representative of the hotel and positively representing and promoting the hotel.
  • Fills in for any vacant shifts as needed;
  • Any other functions or tasks pertaining to this position as required or assigned.

What are we looking for?

  • Hospitality Experience- currently in a Senior Leadership role with a minimum of 5 years of Food & Beverage leadership experience
  • Hotel or Restaurant Brand experience an asset- Marriott or Hilton experience considered an asset.
  • Post-secondary degree or equivalent years of relevant work experience.
  • A team player who has the ability to deal with all levels of management, employees and owners in a professional manner.
  • Must be able to delegate responsibilities, organize projects, and establish priorities consistent with hotel objectives.
  • Experienced people leader including recruitment, training, engagement and motivation.
  • Proven track record in improving guest satisfaction scores.
  • Must be able to communicate information to internal and external customers effectively and courteously.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, and effective organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to work Evening, Weekends and holidays.
