Job Summary
The Facility Operator of the Richcraft Sensplex is responsible for ensuring that a high standard of safety and cleanliness is met, and that all ice surfaces at the Sensplex are properly maintained and flooded. Must be able to follow the Company's Health and Safety guidelines, as well as ensure the facility is clean at all times.
Main Responsibilities
Ongoing
- Responsible for operating and driving the Zamboni (ice resurfacing machine) and other motorized equipment
- Responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the facility and all systems. This includes ice resurfacing machine, HVAC, ice plant, building controls, sound, lighting, ice making, fire protection, safety, scoreboard, communication etc.
- Edge ice before games
- Ensure proper building standards are maintained
- Ensure the interior and exterior of the Sensplex facility are properly maintained on a continuous proactive basis, including painting
- Shovel snow away from exit doors
- Ensures all ice pads are resurfaced according to facility schedules
- Complete minor repairs on ice surface, dasher boards, safety shields, and all other equipment
- Responsible for ensuring that the assembly and disassembly of the facility are properly executed as dictated by programs and events
- Responsible for annual removal and installation of ice surface
- Cleaning of Dressing rooms, Public Washrooms and Public Areas
- Maintaining checklists
- Is trained and responsible for managing building evacuation if required in an emergency and performs a minimum of 2 evacuation drills per month
- Required to be available to Richcraft Sensplex patrons at all times while on duty and to interact with to all guests in a professional and courteous, responsive manner
- Assists with set-up & clean-up of client service centre as required for rentals
- Assists with training of new staff members as needed
- On-call to respond to after-hour alarms as needed

- Perform other duties as required from time to time at the request of the Operations Supervisor
Health & Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities
Responsible for ensuring that all areas covered by Occupational Health & Safety Act (OHSA) are adhered to, specifically:
- Working in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations and internal policies and procedures
- Using or wearing protective equipment, devises or clothing when required
- Reporting any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger himself or herself or another team member
- Reporting any contravention of the OHSA, regulations or Senators Sports & Entertainment policies and procedures
Training
Responsible for completing on-line training modules as required, including, but not limited to:
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability (AODA), Customer Service Standards
- AODA, the Integrated Accessibility Standards
- Back & Lifting Safety Training
- Fall Protection
- Ontario Worker Health & Safety Awareness
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- WHMIS 2015 (GHS)
- Violence and Harassment in the Workplace
May also be required to attend on-site training sessions as scheduled (eg. customer service).
Qualifications
- 1-2 years of experience as an arena operator (ice resurfacer driving experience)
- Experience performing maintenance, janitorial and other facility operational duties
- Experience operating power tools and hand tools
- Current First aid, CPR and defibrillation training
- A valid class G driver's license with a clean abstract
- Ice making expertise (Safe Ice Resurfacer Operator (SIRO) designation an asset)
- Above average understanding of the Ontario Occupational Health & Safety Act
- Strong customer service, organizational and decision making skills
- Proven ability to work independently but to contribute as a member of a team
- Good physical dexterity
- Team Player
- Bilingualism (French & English) is preferred
