Location: Compass Early Learning and Care Rolling Hills - Bethany, Ontario

Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Shift times will rotate within the team.

About the role:

As an Early Childhood Educator at Compass ELC Rolling Hills, you'll join a team of passionate professionals dedicated to nurturing young minds. our Rolling Hills location is located in the small town of Bethany, Ontario, and provides care to infant, toddler, preschool, kinder, and school-age children. This role involves engaging with children, families, and community partners to create enriching learning experiences for children that are based on their interests and passions. You'll work 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, in a split shift with flexible shift times within the program's hours (7 am to 6 pm).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and lead interest-based and play-based activities that reflect children's unique interests to promote the physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development of children.
  • Maintain active supervision with children while still being engaged in play.
  • Documenting children's learning progress through observation, reflection, and research questions.
  • Create and maintain an environment that protects the health, safety, and well-being of children.
  • Assist the children with diapering, dressing, and eating habits.
  • Foster strong relationships with families and involve them in the learning process.
  • Collaborate with coworkers, families, and community partners to create a supportive environment.
  • Participate in team meetings, professional learning opportunities, and staff training opportunities.
  • Assist in housekeeping duties within the program.
  • Follow CELC, CCEYA, and Ministry of Education policies and procedures.

Skills and Qualifications:

Requirements:

  • 1-3 years' experience working/volunteering with children and youth.
  • Familiarity with the Child Care Early Years Act and licensing standards.
  • Valid certifications including Clear Police Vulnerable Sector Check, Standard First Aid and CPR Level C, and Updated immunization records.
  • Registered and in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators
    • OR; has a post-secondary degree in a similar field (i.e., Child and Youth Care, Recreation and Leisure, Social Service Work, Bachelor of Education, etc.) 
    • OR; is interested in pursuing their ECE diploma.
