Job Overview:

We are seeking a qualified, experienced Building Operator to oversee the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our growing commercial property portfolio. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the efficient functioning, safety, and comfort of the building's tenants. The Building Operator will play a key role in managing systems, completing and/or coordinating maintenance activities, and responding to emergencies on a rotating on-call schedule to maintain optimal building performance. This position will include travel to/from various properties within our portfolio in Ottawa, ON.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and control building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other mechanical systems, to ensure efficient and reliable operation;
• Complete simple building maintenance and repair, and coordinate with external contractors for specialized maintenance and repairs;
• Liaise with tenants to address and resolve maintenance concerns promptly;
• Maintain positive relationships with tenants and address their needs in a professional and courteous manner;
• Maintain accurate records of equipment maintenance, repairs, and inspections;
• Report on building performance and recommend improvements based on historical data;
• Respond promptly to emergency situations, such as power outages, equipment failures, or weather-related incidents, and implement corrective actions to mitigate risks;
• Assist in the development and management of the building's operational budget.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Building Operator or in a similar role.
• Knowledge of building systems, operations, and maintenance procedures.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot technical issues.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
• Access to a vehicle.
• Police Background Check: Applicant may require reliability status security clearance.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Relevant technical certifications or vocational training.
• Additional certifications in building operations or facilities management are a plus.
• Prior experience in building maintenance or operations.
