Job Summary

CMHA Ontario is currently seeking an experienced Project Management Lead (PML) for a regular, full-time position. The incumbent will have primary responsibility to advance CMHA Ontario's strategic work plan and to support organizational reporting and planning. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker, has strong communication and facilitation skills and understands organizational structures. They will bring deep experience in operational leadership, project management and reporting. The role will report to the Chief Quality and System Performance Officer and the incumbent will be responsible for developing and implementing common approaches to project management and coordination of resources. The PML will support the leadership team through annual cycles of work planning, monitoring and reporting.

Core Responsibilities

  • Manage the implementation of CMHA Ontario's strategic work plan including:
  • Lead operational planning, work planning and resource planning aligned to strategic priorities for the organization
  • Lead reporting, project, change and risk management activities for the organization against the work plan and strategic plan
  • Support capacity and resource planning for shared resources (HR, Finance, Comms, Govt and branch relations)
  • Advance performance reporting and management including:
  • Guide the development of Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) aligned to the strategic work plan
  • Develop and implement an integrated dashboard based on OKRs that can be used to understand progress across priorities
  • Report on organizational accountabilities
  • Support a consistent approach to project management across including:
  • Ensure consistent quality and integrity in project management
  • Lead a CoP of project and program managers in the organization and potentially for the CMHA Network that will provide support, advice, tools and resources to team members.
  • Identify PM tools to be implemented consistently across the org to support work planning, monitoring and risk management /mitigation
  • Support the development and implementation of departmental work plans
  • Strategic and operational planning including:
  • Support strategic planning for the organization
  • Support the development of business cases and proposals for new initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned

Skill-Based Competencies

  • Undergraduate degree (e.g., BA, BSc., or other relevant), college diploma or equivalent related work experience is required
  • PMP certification is required
  • Minimum three years of experience in project management and operational reporting is required
  • Demonstrated proficiency in project management
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leading and facilitating group discussions
  • Strong, independent work ethic and comfort working within teams as well as highly developed networking skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, editing, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Computer proficiency, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint as well as SharePoint.
  • Experience with project management software is an asset
  • Experience working with non-governmental organizations and government agencies, and knowledge of the health care environment in Ontario is an asset
  • Experience in the mental health and addiction or broader community and social services sector is an asset
  • Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset

Compensation and Benefits

Hiring Rate: This position pays between $89,370.22 and $93,559.44 per annum, based on a 35-hour work week.

The salary grid for this role ranges between $89,370.22 at Step 1 and $106,127.13 at Step 5. The initial salary offered for this position is anticipated to fall between Step 1 and Step 2 of the salary grid as posted above as the hiring rate.

The successful candidate will be eligible for a comprehensive compensation and benefits package that includes pension through HOOPP, life, health, and dental insurance, exclusive paid time-off and opportunities for professional development.

Working Conditions

This is a regular (permanent) full-time, bargaining position, working standard office hours (currently 35 hours/week). The position is based in Toronto, Ontario (180 Dundas Street West, Suite 2301). We operate within a hybrid model, with colleagues working from the office 3 days/week and from home 2 days/week. Travel may be required, possibly requiring overnight stays.

This position is also a desk job with extended periods of sitting, reading, telephone interaction, and working at the computer. This position involves some moderate lifting, shipping, and handling. Attendance at various meetings throughout the workday/workweek will be required; meetings may occur on short notice, depending on the circumstances.

This position is within the OPSEU Bargaining Unit.

As a condition of employment, the successful candidate will be required to maintain and submit proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
