COMPASSIONATE NEIGHBOURS IS SEEKING TO CONTRACT A PART-TIME VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR


The Compassionate Neighbourhood Health Partners Society (Compassionate Neighbours) is a registered charitable society, governed by the BC Societies Act and its own Constitution and Bylaws. Compassionate Neighbours was incorporated as a non-profit organization on June 21, 2017, and received charitable status in 2019. The services and programs that we offer promote the social and emotional wellbeing of our Chilliwack older adults and the caregivers of older adults

JOB TITLE: Part-Time Volunteer Coordinator

The Compassionate Neighbours wishes to retain the services of a part-time independent contractor to assume the responsibility of acting as the Society's Volunteer Coordinator.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Under Executive Director (ED) guidance, the Volunteer Coordinator will recruit, respond to and process new volunteer applications. This will also involve maintaining a record of all volunteer hours as well as supervision and connection with each Compassionate Neighbours Volunteer.


These duties include, but are not limited to the following tasks:

  1. Model and clearly articulate to all volunteers the Compassionate Neighbours' organizational mission, vision and core values.
  2. Recruit adult and youth volunteers according to program needs and vacancies and provide a weekly report on the status of all new applicants.
  3. Follow an ongoing plan for volunteer recruitment, training, scheduling, and management which will include development materials that are intended to support and build skills for volunteers.
  4. Oversee all aspects of volunteer programs with attention to confidentiality, safety for clients and volunteers, appropriate and quality training of volunteers.
  5. Maintain the Compassionate Neighbours Volunteer recruitment ads on social media, and various volunteer websites and recruitment sites.
  6. Maintain any reporting and statistics as required, including a current and confidential Volunteer data base.
  7. Organize volunteer appreciation events and provide monthly volunteer birthday recognition.
  8. Write references for universities or other volunteer requests, as needed and when volunteers complete their time with Compassionate Neighbours, prepare recognition certificates for them.
  9. Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • Strong and dynamic leadership style and management background. Leads with enthusiasm. Experience in a non-profit environment, is an asset.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with a commitment to a participatory leadership style.
  • Excellent communication and public relations skills, both oral and written.
  • Has a collaborative style of communication and is skilled in interacting with diverse people and groups.
  • Proficiency in database management and Microsoft products and able to use own computer with the most current Microsoft products installed.
  • Has a driver's license and can use own car as transport.

Working Hours and Location:
This is a contracted part-time position, which will be renewed annually. The position allows for 20 hrs each month with the pay being $25.00 for each of those hours and permits working from home, if living in the Chilliwack area.


The position has a 3-month probationary period which will allow time to evaluate if this is a good fit for you and vice versa. This is a one-year contact that will renew annually.
