Job Summary:

We are seeking enthusiastic and adaptable individuals to join our event team as Event Staff Members for the Noel event. This role is multifaceted, allowing you to gain experience in various event operations areas, including parking management, merchandise sales, mascot performance, and general support. The Event Staff Member plays a critical role in creating a seamless and enjoyable experience for our guests by being friendly, attentive, and proactive across a range of responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Parking Attendant Duties

Traffic Management: Direct vehicles to available parking spaces, assist with the flow of traffic, and enforce parking regulations to maintain an orderly and efficient parking area.

Team Communication: Remain in constant communication with the Parking Lot Manager and team to ensure parking lots are used efficiently and communicate lot capacity to maximize stall usage.

Guidance and Customer Assistance: Provide guests with clear directions to the nearest available parking areas and assist with information about parking policies, event facility details, and directional guidance to ensure they feel welcomed and supported.

Safety Monitoring: Remain vigilant in observing the parking area to identify any safety concerns, including icy spots that need salting, and report them promptly to ensure the safety of all patrons.

2. Merchandise Seller Duties

Merchandise Setup and Display: Set up, organize, and maintain merchandise displays in a visually appealing and accessible manner.

Sales and Cash Handling: Assist customers with purchases, manage cash and card transactions accurately, and keep track of inventory levels.

Customer Service: Engage with guests in a friendly and approachable manner, answer product-related questions, and ensure a positive shopping experience.

Inventory Management: Monitor stock levels and communicate with team members about replenishment needs to prevent shortages.

3. Mascot Performance

Event Interaction: Bring energy and entertainment by wearing a mascot costume and engaging with attendees, posing for photos, and creating memorable experiences.

Character Performance: Emulate the mascot's personality through gestures and body language to bring the character to life, while following event guidelines for safety and conduct.

Costume Maintenance: Ensure the costume remains in good condition by handling it carefully and reporting any issues to supervisors promptly.

Physical Stamina: Be comfortable and capable of extended physical activity, including standing, walking, and interacting with guests while in costume.

4. Rover Duties (General Event Support)

Area Oversight: Ensure the smooth operation and safety of assigned theme sections by regularly checking for hazards, identifying any maintenance needs, and reporting them to the Site Manager or Installation Tech team.

Guest Guidance and Crowd Flow Management: Act as an ambassador for the event by assisting guests with directions and answering questions about event areas, schedules, and activities. Provide clear guidance to patrons to facilitate smooth flow through the site and prevent bottlenecks.

Site Tidiness and Waste Management: Coordinate with the Cloverdale Waste Management team to ensure that event spaces remain tidy and trash is promptly disposed of. Routinely check and maintain the cleanliness of areas within the event.

Safety Monitoring: Be vigilant in identifying icy areas that need salting and promptly report them to maintain a safe environment for all attendees.

Problem Solving and Support: Respond quickly to unexpected situations and address minor issues to keep the event running smoothly. Offer support to team members and step into other roles as needed during staff breaks.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Customer Service Skills: Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic, with a strong desire to create a positive experience for all guests.

Communication Skills: Clear and effective communication, both with guests and fellow team members.

Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to switch between roles, work independently, and handle changing priorities with ease.

Physical Requirements: Capable of standing, walking, and performing physical activities for extended periods. Willingness to wear a mascot costume and interact with guests if needed.

Attention to Detail: Strong focus on accuracy when handling cash, maintaining merchandise displays, and assisting with event operations.

Team-Oriented Attitude: Positive and cooperative approach to working with colleagues and supporting team goals.

Preferred Qualifications:

● Prior experience in event staffing, customer service, or performance roles (such as mascot work or entertainment) is an asset.

● Knowledge of cash-handling procedures and retail transactions.

● Experience or comfort with performance-related activities, including wearing costumes and interacting with large groups.

Working Conditions:

This role requires availability for the duration of the Noel event season (November 27 - December 23), including weekends, evenings, and holiday periods as necessary. Event Staff Members should expect to work in outdoor and indoor settings and be prepared for a range of weather conditions. The role also requires physical activity, including standing for extended periods, walking, lifting up to 25 pounds, and wearing a mascot costume for certain shifts.
