The Opportunity
The Assistant Controller - Corporate will play a pivotal role in maintaining financial integrity and accurate financial reporting for multiple companies operating within the Bridgemans Services Group. This position involves close collaboration with the senior corporate controller and Director of Financial Operations.
The Assistant Controller – Corporate is responsible for preparing the month, quarterly and annual financial reporting as well as assisting in the preparation of annual finance statements. They will help lead and manage the accounting staff both locally and internationally.
Key Responsibilities
Reporting to the Senior Corporate Controller, responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to, the following:
Monthly Financial Reporting
- Oversee and complete the timely and accurate draft preparation of monthly financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements.
- Analyze and interpret monthly financial data, highlighting trends, deviations, and areas requiring attention.
- Collaborate and lead finance team to ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and reconcile any discrepancies.
Quarterly Performance Analysis
- Work with Director of Financial Operations to gather relevant financial data for performance evaluation and KPIs.
- Draft quarterly and annual reporting covenants as requested by the group's bankers.
Annual Financial Preparations
- Lead the process of compiling data and drafting financial statements for the annual reporting cycle.
- Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the audit process, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and accuracy of financial information.
Team Leadership & Support
- Maintain a strong working relationship with finance team and other departments to ensure seamless coordination between financial reporting and day-to-day financial operations.
- Provide guidance on accounting treatments, financial controls, and process improvements to enhance accuracy and efficiency.
Qualifications
· 5+ years' experience in Accounting with 2 years' experience as a Senior Accountant
· Ideally a candidate has or is pursuing a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification
· Comprehensive knowledge of GAAP
· Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
· Experience working with Quickbooks is an asset
· Demonstrated strong analytical abilities and detail orientation
· Ability to complete complex tasks with minimal supervision
· Ability to foster and maintain a positive tone within the team and to work cooperatively through personal behavior, work contribution and sharing of expertise and knowledge
