ARENA AND HOME CARE MAINTENANCE WORKER (FULL-TIME)

JOB TYPE: TERM –ONE (1) YEAR

SCHEDULE: WEDNESDAY to SUNDAY (WEDNESDAY-FRIDAY: HOME CARE MAINTENANCE; SATURDAY - SUNDAY: ARENA OPERATIONS)

DEADLINE: NOVEMBER 18, 2024

Eagle Lake First Nation is seeking a dedicated and flexible individual to assist with Arena operations on weekends and provide Home Care Maintenance support during the week. This dual-role position is ideal for someone who values variety in their workday and is committed to supporting community wellness and recreation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

ARENA OPERATIONS:

  • Supervise arena activities, ensuring the health and safety of all participants during public skating and hockey tournaments.
  • Operate the Zamboni and perform basic ice maintenance.
  • Conduct minor repairs and maintenance as needed.
  • Carry out janitorial duties, including cleaning the entrance area, dressing rooms, and walkways, as well as disposing of garbage.
  • Maintain the property, ensuring all entrances, pathways, and bathrooms are clean and safe.
  • Keep walkways, parking lots, and arena grounds clear of snow and debris.
  • Maintain daily checklists, records, and reports for operational and health & safety purposes.

HOME CARE MAINTENANCE:

  • Provide snow removal for elders and individuals with disabilities, including shoveling driveways, roofs, and pathways.
  • Perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks as directed.
  • Clean wood stoves and oil heaters.
  • Assist clients with heavy lifting and other tasks when necessary.
  • Offer general support and client assistance as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completed high school education or equivalent (preferred).
  • Valid “G” class driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Basic computer knowledge and skills (preferred).
  • Mechanical aptitude and general knowledge of mechanical equipment.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions effectively.
  • Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
