Design and develop project plans for structures and transpose them into preliminary or final drawings from freehand
sketches, verbal instructions, or various data. The drawings usually contain detailed instructions for the execution of
the work as well as photographs;
Detailing and translating the data of the projected work in a concrete manner in accordance with the standards in
force and the requirements of the project;
Drawing sketches of scaffolding parts;
Participate in the bidding phase in collaboration with the sales department :
conduct preliminary site visits and attending meetings as required;
analyze site surveys and assist in the preliminary design phase;
ensure the feasibility of the projects in relation to the applicable laws and standards;
Participate in the design phase and write design briefs;
Participate in the design of scaffolding parts;
Produce letters of conformity following verifications (site visits, photos and videoconferencing);
Assist in the research and development of new products and improved designs;
Provide technical guidance to co-workers;
When required, contact clients to obtain technical information needed to create sketches;
Manage files: make copies of drawings to representatives, send documents by email to customers, record them in inhouse
filing system;
Helping with the implementation of the design with 3D software;
Assist representatives in the measurement stage;
As needed, develop "as-built" drawings;
Review and obtain approval of plans from the client for the project department;
Manage project schedules;
Develops pre-project and in-project material lists and forwards them to operations. In collaboration with operations,
make substitutions to lists based on material availability;
In collaboration with the technical representative, estimate additional work required on site;
In collaboration with the technical representative, maintain a positive
REQUIRED SKILLS
Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering (Specialization in structures is an asset) P.Eng. registration in the Province of
Ontario is preferred but not mandatory
2-5 years experience in the design of structures (An experience in temporary structures is an asset)
Relevant experience in construction field as a draftsman, estimator, or project manager.
Good knowledge of English, both verbal and written
Strong communication skills, verbal and written
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work under pressure
Good knowledge of MS-Office
Proficient in the use of design softwares such as AutoCAD, SAFI, ETABS, SAP 2000, SolidWorks & SketchUp (an
asset)
Possess vehicle and a valid Class 5 driver's license
Attention to detail
Ability to work in team
Positive attitude
Basic knowledge in French (Asset)
