EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – Estimator/Project Manager – BC Peace Region

Requirements:

Most ideal applicants will meet many of the following non-mandatory criteria:

  • Completion of a Post-Secondary Technical Program in one of the following fields:
    1. Civil or Structural or Process Engineering or Trade Program;
    2. Construction Management or Contract Law;
  • Business Management;
  1. Building Technology;
  2. Electrical Engineering or Trade Program;
  • Familiarity/Experience Working with GPS based or other Survey Equipment;
  • Minimum 5 years' Construction or Engineering Industry Experience;
  • Minimum 2 years' Experience as an Estimator, Project Manager, or Supervisor;
  • Familiarity with WorkSafe BC Rules and Requirements;
  • Excellent Written and Oral Communication Skills;
  • Ability to Read Plans, Complete Quantity Take-Offs, Materials Orders, etc.;
  • Experience or Familiarity with Microsoft Project or other Construction Scheduling Software;
  • Experience or Familiarity with Construction Estimating Software;
  • Aptitude to Complete Accurate Calculations/Critical Analysis while under pressure;
  • Experience or Familiarity with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, or other Autodesk based software;
  • Exceptional Organizational Skills;
  • Excellent Time Management Skills and the Ability to Effectively Manage one's own schedule and prioritize multiple project needs concurrently;
  • Extraordinary Attention to Detail and Accuracy;
  • Quality Control/Diligent Cross Checking one's own work to ensure accuracy;
  • Valid Driver's Licence;
  • Current Resident of the BC Peace Region, or willing to relocate to the BC Peace Region following 3 month probation period.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of accurate Construction Cost Estimates, Quote Letters, and competitive Bid Proposal submissions that will result in profitable construction projects;
  • Utilization of modern technologies and software to produce highly accurate quantity take-offs/verification to support project Budgeting, Bid Proposals, and Progress Payments;
  • Attendance and participation in Pre-Bid, Tender Opening, Contract Negotiation, Project Management, Design/Build, and other project requirement meetings (virtual & in-person);
  • Create, Monitor, and Manage detailed project Budget throughout life of project;
  • Assist the Project Superintendent with material procurement and delivery to site;
  • Assist the Project Superintendent with Sub-Contracts and Scheduling;
  • Manage Changes in project Design, Scope, Schedule, and Cost;
  • Monitor and Report project progress and performance to internal management teams;
  • Collection, Organization, and Management of project RFI's, Submittals, Record Documentation, Progress Payment Applications;
  • General Contract Administration.

Compensation:

This position is compensated at an hourly rate, with anticipated gross yearly income range $80,000 - $140,000 per year. Compensation rate will be determined by the successful applicant's proven level of training and experience.
