Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant to join our team. The Staff Accountant will support our assurance team by preparing financial statements, managing accounts, performing audits, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The ideal candidate should be able to work both independently and as part of a team and must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and analyze financial statements and supporting documentation.
- Audit and review of financial statements with reduced supervision - including thorough response to planning, identification and attempted resolution of engagement issues, complete working papers and clearing of queries.
- Complete compilation assignments with minimal supervision - including thorough documentation of working papers.
- Preparation of basic and complex personal and corporate income tax returns with reduced supervision.
- Preparation of letters and other communications to clients.
- Collaborate with senior accountants and other team members to improve financial processes and systems.
- Meet various internal and external deadlines and communicate with managers/supervisors on a timely basis.
- Ensure compliance with firm policies, accounting principles, and regulatory standards.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in an accounting firm or similar environment.
- CPA designation or active pursuit of CPA designation preferred.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., iFirm, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics) and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills with a high attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
