Position Title: Corporate Tax Preparer

The ideal candidate will possess a minimum of 8 years of empirical experience in corporate tax compliance, paired with in-depth expertise in Canadian taxation frameworks and statutory requirements.Core Responsibilities:
- Execute the preparation and review of Canadian corporate tax returns across multiple corporate structures, ensuring alignment with applicable tax laws and regulations.
- Develop and prepare financial statements adhering to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and Accounting Standards for Private Enterprises (ASPE) in Canada, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with both federal and provincial tax legislation, including the Income Tax Act and relevant provincial tax acts, to minimize exposure to penalties or audits.
- Maintain current knowledge of ongoing tax legislation, interpret changes in tax laws, and implement necessary modifications to internal compliance protocols.
- Provide expert consultation regarding complex tax concepts such as Corporate Dividend Account (CDA) calculations, General Rate Income Pool (GRIP) and Refundable Dividend Tax on Hand (RDTOH), as well as distinctions between eligible and non-eligible dividends, Enhanced Refundable Dividend Tax on Hand (ERDTOH), and Non-Eligible Refundable Dividend Tax on Hand (NERDTOH).
- Collaborate closely with clients to gather requisite financial information and documentation, enhancing tax strategies through insights into tax planning opportunities and risk management.
- Facilitate the resolution of client inquiries and complexities pertaining to corporate tax compliance, providing targeted advice rooted in tax law.
- Leverage TaxPrep and Caseware software platforms for the efficient and accurate preparation of tax filings and financial reports, ensuring adherence to best practices in utilizing technological tools.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in the preparation of corporate tax returns, with at least 6 years dedicated specifically to Canadian corporate taxation and financial statement preparation.
- Profound understanding of the Canadian tax system, including technical knowledge surrounding CDA, GRIP, RDTOH, eligible and non-eligible dividends, ERDTOH, and NERDTOH structures.
- Proficiency in tax preparation software, particularly TaxPrep and Caseware; familiarity with data analytics tools is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving acumen, with a capacity to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Exceptional attention to detail, with an emphasis on accuracy and regulatory compliance.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively convey tax strategies and compliance issues to stakeholders.
- Capability to work autonomously and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related discipline.
- CPA designation (or equivalent professional accounting qualification) is highly desirable.
