Ontario Line South
Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are to design, build and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
Working together as Ontario Transit Group we are currently mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario's economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
- A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
- Stations:
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown)

SCOPE OF WORK
Description:
- Lifting Supervisor oversees lifting activities on site, preparing the works for lifting activities (like, tower cranes, mobile cranes, boom trucks, forklifts, gantry cranes etc..) and providing a permanent.
- Lifting Supervisor is in charge of lifting team, and supervising all lifting activities on site by permanent assessing and guidance of rigging team.
Health & Safety:
Ensures all equipment and material is in good condition and fit to operate at any time, and all safety devices are always functional, calibrated and certification is up to date.
Lifting Supervisor makes sure all personnel is following the best practices in terms of rigging techniques.
- Ensure a high standard of safety at any time.
- Responsible for verifying all documentation is available and approved during lifting activities to support production teams for all sites.
- Ensure all equipment and lifting devices / apparatus is always in compliance with Canadian Standards in Ontario.
Operations:
- Anticipate and prepare work, equipment, materials, schedule tasks, and dispatch teams according to site planning and priorities.
- Set, and implement procedures to ensure good comprehension of works by the lifting and logistic teams.
- Set and implement pre-starts talks, equipment check list for each type of equipment.
- Ensure the operators / drivers are doing their pre-shift equipment verifications.
- Ensure all lifting devices are always in good condition and check prior each shift.
- Ensure all documentation is available before lifting activities (permits, certifications, etc.).
- Organize & coordinate all lifting activities on all sites and the daily operation of lifting teams.
- Closely monitor erection of big equipment on site, Tower Cranes, Crawler cranes, Overhead cranes, etc.
- Review all lifting plans, and ensure lifting plans are strictly followed on site.
- Participate in tracking and logging of all Ontario Transit Group lifting devices.
- Ensure the smooth operation of lifting and logistic team, which means proper planification of operators leave, shifts, back-up in case of sickness, etc.
- Coordinate activities with site Engineers.
- Doing daily rounds on site to monitor lifting team and improve their skills.
- Tasks and scope may vary during site duration.
Reporting:
- Ensure daily pre-start is performed on site and recorded in the server.
- Get daily reports from site team, staff and workers presence and hours done and tasks performed each day.
- Get the hourly meters / km of all equipment on site each day (Mobile Cranes, heavy equipment, etc), send info to Plant Engineer.
- Ensure the lifting devices and lifting equipment are checked daily and sent back to Lifting Manager
- 10+ years experience in Lifting Department with Construction Company
- Excellent knowledge of Lifting standards
- Appointed person Certificate (Still Valid)
- Proficiency in Plant & Logistics
- Engineering and supervision skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office
