Job Description:
The Buyer I will report to the Manager, Contracts and Sourcing.
Responsibilities:
- Create and coordinate purchase orders and ensure that commitments are met, and issues are resolved.
- Support and manage the competitive bid process for low complexity, low value materials and services including developing competitive bid documents, managing the bid process to ensure fairness and compliance, evaluating bids and making recommendations.
- Support contract development and execution to effectively manage AltaLink's risk. Support contract changes and amendments as required.
- Support successful supplier relationships including the identification and development of suppliers.
- Participate in process improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- University bachelor's degree or college diploma in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance or other related disciplines.
- Eligible for Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation or equivalent. Working toward SCMP designation or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of 1 years related experience in procurement or supply chain management.
- Proven ability/experience in the above noted responsibilities.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and interest in supply chain career.
- Understanding of legal terms and conditions an asset.
- Good decision-making skills and understanding of negotiations.
- Comfortable communicating and presenting in front of small groups.
- Results oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Effective organization and time management skills.
