OVERVIEW

Vertex is currently accepting applications for a permanent, full-time Business Development Lead, Professional and Consulting Services. We are looking for a person with an Engineering or Technical background who enjoys building relationships with clients or a person with a business background who enjoys learning the technical side of Environmental Consulting and Engineering Services. The successful candidate will be a driven individual with a strong network of contacts within the Environmental, Asset Retirement and Engineering sectors. A technical background is considered an asset, but not a necessary requirement for the position.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Business Development:

  • Build and maintain relationships with key decision makers at active companies in oil and gas, oilsands, petrochemical, renewable energy, utilities, agriculture, forestry, drilling, midstream, mining, aggregate and municipal sectors
  • Help develop sales strategy to maximize exposure to the Environmental and ARO sectors of industry
  • Develop and maintain an in-depth knowledge of the Environmental market as it relates to Vertex's services
  • Identify opportunities to expand our service offering based on client and market needs
  • Expand Vertex exposure to Environmental, ARO and Rem/Rec bids and identify relevant bid opportunities
  • Strategize with Technical team to develop bid responses and quotes
  • Collaborate with and support Regional Leaders to support Consulting sector growth at Vertex locations
  • Ensure lessons learned from completed projects/proposals are carried forward to new opportunities

Marketing:

  • Involvement in the development and execution of Vertex service specific marketing strategy

Process & Talent Improvement

  • Seek out talent to supplement Vertex service operations throughout Canada
  • Communicate industry information and trends to technical team in support of continuous improvement

CANDIDATE QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong network of contacts within Environmental, Engineering and Asset Retirement sector
  • Diploma or University Degree in Engineering, Environment or Land or related technical field
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and develop rapport with clients and stakeholders, excellent communication and technical reporting skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Valid driver's license with a clean abstract

LOCATION

  • This position will be based out of the Calgary Metropolitan Area.
