Opioid Addiction Therapist – Women's Opioid Program

Maternity/Parental Leave Contract (5 days per week) - Evening Work Required

Contract position start date: As soon as possible Ends: 30 April 2025 (with possibility of extension)

Position:

Under the supervision of the Program Director, the Woman's Opioid Addiction Therapist will provide individual and group therapy to women experiencing substance use concerns, as well as their families and loved ones. This will include, assessment, referral, single session and brief solution focused therapy as needed, from a harm reduction, client–directed, feminist, anti-oppression and trauma-based perspective. This position has a case management component that acknowledges the complex and unique needs of women struggling with opioid use. Regular consultation with community colleagues, community awareness building and other relevant community initiatives are also key components of this position.

Qualifications:

  • BSW or HBA in social sciences; MSW/MA preferred.
  • Registration with a professional college that grants the designation to practice psychotherapy in Ontario.
  • Bilingualism Preferred – French & English
  • Minimum two years addictions therapy experience including providing referral, case-management, and community treatment services.
  • Proven ability to utilize and interpret addiction assessment tools.
  • Demonstrated ability with harm reduction, client-directed, feminist and anti-oppression principles and practice.
  • Demonstrated positive conflict resolution skills, in addition to evidence of ethical practice.
  • Demonstrated evidence of high degree of initiative & collaboration.
  • Knowledge of feminism/ARAO is required.
  • Understanding and work with people of Indigenous heritage and the proven ability to provide a culturally safe environment.
  • Highly developed team/community communication & collaboration strategies.
  • Valid driver's license in the province of Ontario and use of an automobile.
