COMPENSATION: $46,579 - $47,432 annually prorated

To help fulfill its mission, LOFT is hiring a Cleaner.
Job Summary
The Cleaner is responsible, under the direction of their supervisor, to ensure the cleanliness of designated client rooms and LOFT offices of the facility. The responsibilities include washing windows, cleaning washrooms, dusting, vacuuming, sweeping, washing, scrubbing, waxing and polishing floors, in accordance with the maintenance standards, as well as other cleaning duties as delegated by their supervisor. The Cleaner also works in liaison with their supervisor in regard to controlling cleaning supplies inventory. In case of emergency, the Cleaner is responsible to assist the Personal Support staff to handle the situations under his/her direction, as applicable to the shift requirements.
What You Will Do
- The daily cleaning of the staff and common areas of the facility. Cleaning includes sweeping, dusting, polishing, and vacuuming, scrubbing, washing of floors, walls and windows and other cleaning/maintenance activities.
- Clean all washrooms, as well as all floors of these areas. Ensure there are sufficient supplies and that stocking requirements are met.
- Clean and remove garbage from all designated offices, staff, and common areas.
- Assist the residents in their bedrooms when needed.
- Cleaning assignments as delegated by the Program Director, in accordance with the maintenance/cleaning schedule established for the facility and tenant requirements.
- Assist the Program Support staff with emergencies, as applicable to the shift requirements.
- Under the direction of the support staff, the Cleaner will respond by phoning 911, assist with the evacuation of the building in case of fire and/or as otherwise appropriate for the particular emergency situation.
- Carry out work in accordance with the health and safety policy and procedures of the program.
- Stock cleaning cart.
- Physically move items which may require pushing, pulling or lifting tables, desk, chairs and other furniture cleaning equipment or cleaning cart supplies.
- Stoop, bend, kneel, crawl, raise and move arms, and stand as needed.
- Maintain supply and safety records for the cart.
- Understand and follow Material Safety Data Sheets and other oral and written instructions.
- Work cooperatively with others.
- Any other related duties as assigned.
What You Bring:
Must Haves
- Related cleaning experience and/or training
- Knowledge of cleaning equipment, chemicals, and usage
- Knowledge of health and safety standards
- Ability to work with limited supervision.
- Able to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
- Good health to meet job demands.
- Working knowledge of English
Since the workplace involves working in resident/tenant member's own homes, staff may be subjected to secondhand smoke while performing their job duties.
