We are looking for a passionate Junior Sous Chef to join our team!

Reporting directly to the Regional Chef, the Jr. Sous Chef will support the Culinary team with the five (5) venues situated at 250 Adelaide Street West and 26 Duncan Street in downtown Toronto. This includes The Porch, Rock ‘N' Horse Saloon, Dublin Calling, Par-Tee Putt, and ACES Pizza.

The Role:

  • Responsible for motivating, developing and coaching the culinary team
  • Oversee all aspects of the daily operation of the kitchen team and food production
  • Responsible for supporting culinary financial metrics (labour, food cost, inventory)
  • Strong focus on service and food preparation
  • Support with the development of standard recipes and techniques for food preparation and presentation and leads implementation and training to Regional teams, with the support of the Regional Chef
  • Set standards, document and follow up with team to maintain a regular cleaning and maintenance schedule for all kitchen areas and equipment
  • Conduct inventory and ensures par levels are maintained
  • Inspect deliveries, ensuring quality is to satisfaction and store properly using FIFO principles
  • Lead the team with a positive and "guest first" approach
  • Carry out on-going training to the high standards set by the Regional Chef
  • Maintain a standard process for menu and recipe changes in line with the process outlined by the Executive Chef
  • Support a culture that minimizes waste
  • Assist with recruitment of new culinary team members and maintaining staffing needs
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum 1 - 3 years of experience in a similar role
  • Excellent attention to detail with a passion for creating Positive Shareable Experiences
  • Strong problem solving skills
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to train and engage team members
  • Effectively communicate orally and in writing
  • Proficient with computer systems including POS, Excel, Word, e-mail
  • A proven track record for making significant contributions to a growing business
  • Ability to maneuver in an evolving environment and adjust to changing priorities
  • Must exhibit a high degree of professionalism (i.e. punctuality, commitment to the job, well-groomed, mannerly, great teamwork etc.)
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop and frequently lift up to 50LBS
  • Be able to work in a standing position for extended periods of time and ability to walk up and down stairs throughout shift
  • Ability to work calmly and effectively during peak times
  • Meet productivity standards and complete work using time efficiently

  • Due to the nature of the work, after hours correspondence may be required
