Job Purpose
Under the general direction of the Greenhouse Manager, the Irrigation Supervisor is responsible for grower helpers' activities such as plant irrigation, monitoring and scouting for pests and diseases, plant fertilization, keeping records, and preparing reports. Additionally, the supervisor will review and develop SOPs, as well as conduct training and orientation for staff and other related tasks.
Job Requirements
- · Supervise and report workers performance
- · Supervise and co-ordinate the activities of workers while they perform duties such as spray, twist, and prune, picking, packing, and so forth
- · Co-ordinate activities with other work units
- · Resolve work-related issues and problems
- · Prepare and submit progress and relative reports
- · Help ensure the crop is healthy and growing optimally
- · Works directly under the guidance of Head Grower
- · Pepper & Cucumber fruit counts
- · Production forecasting
- · Assist the grower in ensuring that climate is optimal for growing conditions
- · Monitoring and scouting of pests and diseases
- · Coordinating with management on all biological programs and implementation
- · Supervision of IPM protocols to pest and disease management as well as compiling IPM and conventional reports for management review and action planning
- · Maintaining up to date records and reports
- · Assist in planning, organizing, training, and assigning scout duties
- · Assist the grower in implementation of our Food & Health Safety programs / policies/ processes
- · Operate scissor lifts, EC meter, PH meter and other equipment
- · Collect water samples
- · Mixing fertilizers
- · Share “on-call” alarm duties with Grower
- · Available to work a flexible work schedule
- · Perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
Employment Requirements and Skills
- · 2+ years management/leadership experience
- · Bachelors in horticulture required (4+ years)
