Team Overview:

  • The Strategic Sourcing and Category Management (SS&CM) team is dedicated to implementing advanced sourcing strategies and managing categories specifically to optimize cost and quality. This team's approach focuses on driving value across all spending categories, ensuring that our procurement activities support our long-term business objectives and operational needs, particularly in our paper mills and packaging plants.

Role Overview:

  • As a Category Manager for MRO, you will be integral to managing and optimizing the procurement of maintenance, repair, and operations supplies and services essential to the operational excellence of our paper mills and packaging plants. This role demands a blend of technical expertise in manufacturing processes and robust skills in strategic sourcing and category management. A key focus will be on using advanced sourcing strategies to drive value and cost-efficiency while maintaining high quality and reliability in MRO supplies. You will report directly to the Director of Strategic Sourcing and Category Management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute strategic sourcing plans tailored to the technical and operational specifics of paper mills and packaging plants.
  • Analyze market trends and technological advancements to stay ahead of industry dynamics and leverage opportunities for innovation in the MRO category.
  • Conduct rigorous supplier evaluations and negotiate contracts that ensure both cost efficiency and high quality of service and materials.
  • Establish and cultivate strategic supplier relationships to enhance supply chain resilience and foster continuous improvement.
  • Implement risk management strategies to mitigate potential disruptions and maintain continuous operational capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering and maintenance, to ensure that MRO strategies align with internal requirements and operational goals.
  • Lead cost-saving initiatives and drive efficiency in MRO procurement without compromising on the quality or reliability of supplies and services.
  • Monitor and manage performance against key procurement metrics and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.
  • Utilize advanced procurement technologies to streamline processes and enhance decision-making through comprehensive data analysis.

Key Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field, with additional qualifications in Business or Supply Chain Management.
  • Professional certification in procurement or supply chain management (e.g., MCIPS, SCMP, CPSM, CSCP) preferred.
  • Minimum of 7 years of technical experience in the paper or packaging industry, with at least 5 years in a procurement or category management role focusing on MRO.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement advanced sourcing strategies and effectively manage complex procurement projects.
  • Strong technical understanding of the operational requirements and challenges in paper mills and packaging plants.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and procurement software, with strong analytical skills to make data-driven decisions.
