What you'll do:
Reporting to the Payroll & Benefits Advisor, the Payroll Assistant is responsible for providing superior administrative support to our Payroll and HR team. The Payroll Assistant will assist the Payroll and HR team to enhance the organization by ensuring compliance and alignment of Payroll and HR practices and processes with the Company's culture, brand and values.
The specific responsibilities of the Payroll and Benefits Assistant include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist with processing full cycle bi-weekly payroll (~850 employees and growing)
- Provide relief coverage for full payroll transmission
- Maintain working knowledge of payroll function (UKG and Oracle).
- Assist with the review and interpretation of electronic timecards in UKG
- Collaborate and follow up with site managers to ensure accurate payment of team members, assisting in resolving timecard issues and providing ongoing training and support as needed
- Ensure compliance with both Provincial and Federal employment standards legislation
- Provide exemplary customer service for team members and team leaders with their payroll and benefits inquiries
- Maintain and update electronic and hard copy employment records
- Work collaboratively with the Payroll team to ensure comprehensive understanding of payroll and benefits practices
- Provide Benefit administration and maintenance in an organized, accurate and timely manner
- Report all separation details within provincially and federally set timelines
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date tracking information and provide regular reporting
- Provide administrative support for the VP of HR and Advisors as needed
- Maintain confidentiality regarding all Human Resources and Payroll related information
- Contribute to the Team in living the Corporate Values of Integrity, Community and Excellence

Who you are:
You are looking for a career in Payroll and:
- Have a minimum of 2-3 years payroll experience
- Previous experience with Payroll administrative duties a strong asset
- Applicants with relevant post secondary education in Payroll and/or Human Resources will be given preferential consideration
- Strong knowledge of administrative procedures, and operation of standard office equipment including strong keyboarding skills and competent with MS Office (Word, Power-point, Excel, Outlook)
- Previous experience working with UKG,Oracle and Applicant Tracking Systems an asset
- Possess strong interpersonal skills (empathetic, intuitive, confidential)
- Able to communicate clearly, both written and verbally, to team members at all levels
- Capable of setting and juggling priorities, with an awareness of the ‘big picture' and prioritize with excellent time management and organization skills
- Able to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment with multiple interruptions and multiple concurrent projects
- Superior organization skills
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and time sensitivity for deadline-driven work
- Ability to think clearly in stressful situations, act with composure, tact, and discretion
- Able to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Dependable and able to follow instruction
- Team-focused with a willingness to learn
- Professional personal presentation
- Hours of work will be dependent on the operational needs and at certain times throughout the year, work hours may include early mornings, late evenings and occasional weekend work
