The ideal candidate will be instrumental in developing tax provisions for financial statements and ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements.Key Responsibilities:
- Develop Tax Provisions and Disclosures: Prepare consolidated tax provisions monthly, quarterly, and annually, along with relevant financial statement note disclosures.
- Engage with Auditors: Respond to inquiries from external financial statement auditors efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare Income Tax Returns: Oversee the preparation of Canadian income tax returns, including T106 and T1134 forms.
- Ensure Compliance: Manage a variety of tax filings, including GST/HST, T5, NR4, US Form 1099s, CbCR reports, and ESTMA reporting.
- Address Tax Inquiries: Formulate responses for inquiries from both Canadian and international tax authorities.
- Support Audit Activities: Collaborate with internal audit teams and external service providers for SOX compliance testing.
- Assist with Subsidiary Transactions: Provide guidance for capitalizations or distributions involving subsidiaries, updating ACB/surplus calculations as necessary.
- Manage Tax Budgets: Contribute to the preparation of budgets for global tax payments, monitoring actual payments against these budgets.
- CPA Designation: A Certified Public Accountant credential is essential.
- Advanced Tax Education: Enrollment in a CPA In-depth Tax Course is advantageous.
- Relevant Experience: 2–4 years in public accounting or corporate tax practice is preferred.
- Tax Expertise: Strong background in tax accounting, especially with large multinational clients in either public or corporate settings.
- Organizational Skills: Proactive with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- Knowledge of IFRS: Deep understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
