The Opportunity:

WATT has a new opportunity for a Sr. Civil Engineer to grow and develop our Civil team in Edmonton. The Sr. Civil Engineer is responsible for the planning, design, and management of land development and municipal civil engineering projects. This includes overseeing project teams, coordinating with other departments as necessary, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. The role requires advanced technical knowledge, leadership skills, and the ability to manage complex projects from conception to completion.

The successful candidate will be involved in various civil projects and must have a proven track record that includes earning client trust and cultivating teams that deliver high-quality work. You will be responsible for:

  • Planning, developing, and managing civil projects.
  • Attending, contributing to, and leading internal and external project meetings.
  • Engaging and working with clients and municipal and utility authorities to obtain approvals for projects.
  • Presenting technical material in innovative ways for review by technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Reviewing deliverables for accuracy.
  • Ensuring all engineering work is carried out in accordance with accepted industry standards, company procedures, and client expectations.
  • Coordinating with multiple divisions, to bring a multidiscipline and holistic approach to projects.
  • Staying current with advancements in civil engineering technology and practices.
  • Mentoring, leading, and supporting the development and growth of new team members.
  • Fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and productive culture.
  • Identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with potential clients, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Participating in local Professional Associations.

What you bring to WATT:

  • A Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Registration with APEGA as a Professional Engineer.
  • 10 years minimum experience in Civil Engineering projects.
  • A proven track record of developing and strengthening client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, problem solving, mentoring, writing, and people skills.
  • A team player attitude, and the ability to motivate and lead by example.
  • The ability to exhibit a high degree of motivation, strategic planning, self-starting capability, and able to work autonomously.

  • Critical thinking skills for problem solving able to manage and develop business relationships.
