StressMarq Biosciences is seeking a Lab Technician- Proteins, to join our growing company. This is an entry-level full-time annual contract position that can be extended if successful, reporting to the Manufacturing Manager.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Preparation/Lab maintenance
- Prepare buffers (buffer batch records and labels) and maintain records
- Prepare gels
- Prepare transfers if necessary
- Basic equipment calibration/maintenance (Autoclave, AKTAs, Bioruptor, columns, pH meter, etc)
- General lab maintenance and cleanup
- Check reagent/consumable stocks and add to order list if low.
- Protein manufacturing
- Perform protein expressions (grow-ups)
- Perform protein purifications following SOPs.
- Buffer exchange and protein quantification.
- Endotoxin removal.
- Perform protein fibrillizations and oligomerizations following SOPs.
- Perform Protein QC activities (Western Blot, Dot Blot, Gel analysis, sterility testing, sedimentation assay, ThT Assay, AFM etc.)
- Maintain cell pellet inventory and protein inventory (lab use) spreadsheets
- Maintain database entries (NPD-DB, QC spreadsheets, IMDB, etc.)
- Produce QC documents and submit to supervisor.
- Product Troubleshooting
- Troubleshoot results (literature review, adjust experimental design, discuss with supervisor, etc.)
- SOP revisions
- Produce R&D summaries and submit to supervisor; maintain R&D folders
- Attendance in Lab Meetings, Full Staff Meetings, and weekly Work Order Meetings.
- Must review transcript if meeting missed or follow up with supervisor.
- Lab Safety
- Safe handling of chemicals and raw materials.
- Safe handling and use of equipment.
- Review SDS sheets when necessary
- Wear appropriate PPE and abide by safety protocols.
- Label reagents/buffers appropriately (WHIMIS)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Science
- Attention to detail mandatory
- Strong verbal and written communications skills
- Analytical skills to perform complex tests and procedures
- Technical proficiency to operate and maintain laboratory equipment
- Problem solving to troubleshoot issues with equipment and investigate any abnormal test results.
