Pocketed is hiring a Freelance SR&ED Consultant to accelerate our growth in pursuit of a powerful mission: eliminating financial barriers for entrepreneurs.

As a Freelance SR&ED (Scientific Research and Experimental Development) Consultant, you will play a crucial role in working with a diverse range of clients, primarily in the Innovation sector. You will leverage your technical expertise to identify, substantiate, and draft R&D tax credit claims for our clients across Canada. This role demands an understanding of cutting-edge technologies, in-depth knowledge of the SR&ED program, and the ability to translate complex technical information into compelling narratives that align with regulatory requirements.

Your Key Responsibilities

  1. Interact with Pocketed clients to identify eligible SR&ED activities.
  2. Develop the structure of SR&ED claims based on technical assessments.
  3. Identify eligible expenses related to SR&ED activities and government grants.
  4. Draft SR&ED claims and grants for submission to tax authorities, collaborating with clients and Pocketed accountant managers
  5. Document claims using relevant forms and technical reports to support the work.
  6. Assist clients during Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) audit processes as necessary.


Your Qualifications

  • Minimum of one to five years of experience as an SR&ED consultant in a professional services organization.
  • Degree in engineering, IT, electronics, science, computing, or related field.
  • Knowledge of the SR&ED program.
  • Ability to understand and articulate technological issues clearly.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to conduct technical interviews with specialists across technical fields.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
