OIC Foods main business activities include ethnic food distribution, manufacturing, co-packing, importing and exporting. OIC Foods is working with some of the most reputed and biggest retail partners in Canada like Walmart, Sobeys, Loblaws, Costco, Save on Foods, Metro, Food Basics and Circle K to name a few.

The Role:

Reporting to the Controller, the General Accountant will complete day to day accounting tasks including but not limited to transactional level entries, record keeping, assisting in month-end and year-end activities, journal entries, bank reconciliations, statutory filings, general reporting, costing, etc.

Responsibilities:

• Responsible for General accounting for multiple group of companies;
• Ensure daily Bank Reconciliations are prepared and other account reconciliations are done on regular basis;
• Develop and maintain a filing system for financial information, records, and documents to ensure easily available information;
• Monitor account balances, track expenses, prepare analyses of accounts and related financial activity to produce monthly financial reports;
• Recording journal entries and other transactions as needed for month end closing;
• Recording inter-company transaction and reconciliation of intercompany balances on regular basis;
• Co-ordinating with other team members of group companies to provide and get accounting information as needed;
• Do the monthly closing on timely basis as per company requirements;
• Maintaining fixed asset, Depreciation schedules, accrued liability, tax payable and other schedules, and updating on monthly basis for month end and year end closing;
• Assisting the Controller in year end closing and providing requisite information on timely basis;
• Prepare supporting schedules, analysis, and disclosures to support the quarterly consolidated financial statements and internal reporting;
• Assist in maintaining costing information by activity, category and product;
• Provide support and answer queries from external auditors;
• Respond to adhoc requests from various stakeholders;
• Assist in annual/Quarterly Physical inventory;
• Other relevant projects and tasks as assigned by the Controller.

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and the incumbent will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by their changing role within the organization and the overall business objectives of the organization.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Degree/diploma in Accounting, Finance or related fields;
• Working towards a CPA is an asset, but not required;
• 2 to 3 years experience in General Accounting in a manufacturing environment;
• Computer skills including Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel and web-based software programs;
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team;
• Ability to ensure quality of work and attention to detail;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Excellent organizational skills, with an ability to prioritize important tasks and projects;
• Able to adapt to changes in the work environment, manage competing demands and able to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events.
