Due to our growth, we need extra hands-on-deck. You'll be joining a team of four, and you will manage your own caseload and work hours. This is a permanent position with full-time hours.
Your areas of responsibility will include:
- Responsible for reviewing, researching, and analyzing accounting files accuracy and completeness.
- Preparation of year end supporting documents.
- Preparation of personal, business, and agriculture tax schedules.
- Preparation of various tax reporting slips and election forms.
- Corresponding with Canada Revenue Agency in respect to various client tax matters.
- Assist our clients with their income tax audits.
- Effectively communicate with managers regarding progress updates and issues on an ongoing basis.
- Develop and apply technical skills by remaining up to date on trends, new developments, and tax authority decisions.
- Ensure all findings or discrepancies in client data files are escalated, documented, and addressed in a timely manner.
- Complete various ad-hoc duties and projects within the Tax department.
Qualifications & Competencies:
- 2 years of bookkeeping experience required.
- Experience in the agricultural industry considered an asset.
- Strong knowledge of computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, QuickBooks, or other accounting software.
- Demonstrated understanding and use of bookkeeping fundamentals, best practices, and accounting framework required.
- Demonstrated data entry skills.
- Knowledge of provincial and federal laws to comply with reporting requirements.
- Exceptional attention to detail.
- Ability to produce work with a high level of precision and accuracy.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Highly organized and demonstrated ability to meets deadlines.
- Analytical and solutions oriented.
- Provide excellent customer service, resolving client matters in a professional manner.
- Ability to remain adaptable in a growing and changing work environment.
- Maintain a growth mindset and invite constructive criticism.
