The Controller is responsible for providing leadership in driving financial processes, measurements, and analytics to support the operations in achieving their financial targets and key initiatives.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in accounting, financial analysis, and administration, as well as experience working in the pharmaceutical or cannabis industry.

Responsibilities:

• Developing management systems to support the achievement of financial and operational targets.
• Prepare and review company financial reports including balance sheet, income statement, and analysis for senior management and stakeholders
• Prepare and implement financial plans, forecasts, and annual operating budget
• Manage daily operations of WillowLabs accounting. Scope includes AP, AR, Billing, Payroll, GL, Cost Accounting Inventory, Revenue Recognition, Banking, and Foreign exchange ensuring smooth processes and accurate financial transactions
• Oversee the month-end procedures, including posting and reviewing journal entries and preparing account reconciliations
• Coordinate external audit
• Stay current with cannabis industry trends
• Oversee material and inventory
• Continually strive to improve data integrity and information reporting
• Lead and mentor the finance team, providing guidance and support to ensure their professional development and success
• Manage and oversee administrative functions

Qualifications:

• Completed CPA designation preferred
• Post-secondary education in finance and or accounting
• A minimum of 5-7 years of progressive work experience in accounting
• Strong understanding of financial principles, budgeting, forecasting financial analysis, and financial reporting
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Understanding of HST and Excise Taxes related to the cannabis industry
• Understanding Cannabis regulations would be an asset
• Experience with QuickBooks preferred
