WHO YOU ARE:

WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- A good basic understanding of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, which could be demonstrated through experience or education.
- Minimum three years of relevant accounting experience. Experience in working on assurance files (audits and review engagements) would be considered an asset. As this role is in the assurance department and will involve preparation of audit and review engagement file work and the generation of financial statements in accordance with Canadian ASPE/ASNPO primarily, preference will be given to those with prior experience in these areas.
- CPA designation, or completed CFE with practical experience requirements in progress.
- Strong computer skills, with expertise in accounting and tax software, such as CaseWare, TaxCycle, Sage, and QuickBooks.
- Proficiency and excitement for learning new software and accounting concepts.
- The ability to learn quickly, mentor others, and provide constructive feedback.
- Bilingualism (French/English), which is considered an asset but not required.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Implement and maintain financial reporting procedures to comply with internal and external reporting deadlines and requirements.
- Analyze financial statements and reports and provide financial, business, and tax advice to clients.
- Prepare and review assurance engagement files, including reconciling accounts, posting journal entries, and preparing supporting documentation.
- Prepare and review sales tax and corporate tax returns.
- Prepare and review personal tax returns (T1s) during personal tax season (March & April of each year).
- Prepare and review bookkeeping as required.
- Assist with tax planning calculations.
- Provide feedback and training as required.
- Communicate with clients and coworkers, maintaining positive relationships.
- Perform tax and accounting research as required.
- Self-manage workload and projects.
- Perform other duties as required and as assigned.
