About this role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Product Designer who will play a critical role in building and maturing our Design System, Dialtone. This is a highly collaborative and multi-disciplinary role for an experienced systems-minded designer who can navigate the nuances between design and front-end development concerns.

** All applications must have a portfolio demonstrating Design Systems experience attached or URL provided **

What you'll do:

  • You will be instrumental in the design and continuous enhancement of Dialtone's design language, components, patterns, and documentation — collaborating closely with the team to foster a culture of ownership and pride. You're at home building system components in Figma complemented by a practical knowledge of HTML/CSS to support front-end design integration. Your front-end design experience might be characterized as "front of the frontend"
  • As a systems-minded designer, you will play a core role in shaping Dialtone's evolution, balancing the needs of core users (designers and engineers) with product end users.
  • You will develop and produce resources, tools, and documentation to support the Dialpad team, optimizing practices to elevate quality and efficiency as well as prioritizing design integrity.
  • You will contribute to Dialtone's roadmap, assisting with feature prioritization, scope, and task execution. You will enhance cross-functional collaboration and help promote design system adoption.
  • You will expand Dialtone's footprint to expand beyond Figma libraries and web components to mobile, tablet, and other hardware platforms.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills
  • Ability to promote design system adoption with internal team partners
  • Ability to make critical, prioritized decisions that drive the design system's impact across the organization
  • Exceptional visual design skills and high-attention to detail
  • Expert in creating, maintaining, and improving Figma libraries for components, libraries, and variables.
  • Experience with Tokens Studio or Figma Variables to manage a design language
  • Documented experience authoring comprehensive design system documentation, showcasing success in enhancing your team's understanding and adoption
  • Documented experience working with HTML, CSS, and UI-oriented JavaScript
  • Documented experience building inclusive, WCAG-compliant experiences
  • Familiarity with Git to manage source code, workflows, and reviewing pull requests
  • Familiarity with front-end frameworks (e.g. Vue, React) and component development tools (e.g. Storybook).
  • Ability to think through the impacts of your design before heavily investing your time
  • Ability to act as a Product Manager when needed to drive efforts forward
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ambiguous work environment

Minimum Qualifications:

  • BS/BA degree or equivalent years of experience
  • A portfolio showcasing design system work and strong visual design skills
  • 5+ years of product design experience
  • 2+ years of design system experience
  • 3+ years Figma experience, with a focus on developing and managing design systems

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with real-time communication applications
  • Experience working with desktop, mobile, and tablet applications
  • Demonstrated experience working with Ai in product design
