The Manufacturing Technician – Intermediate is responsible for assembling and testing manufactured products to ensure they are functioning correctly and free of defects after use internally or in the market. This role involves physical labor, operating various tools, connecting sub-assemblies and components to configure a fully completed product, and inspecting, testing, debugging, and preparing items for shipment. The Manufacturing Technician – Intermediate is accountable for the efficient production of products following established procedures and adhering to all safety protocols and workplace policies.
Core Duties/Responsibilities:
- Mechanically assemble components for contamination monitors, computers and detectors.
- Monitor and maintain all safety equipment and tools.
- Ability to test various components using computer programs.
- Ability to understand block diagrams and drawings.
- Some cable assembly and soldering.
- Some brazing skills as required.
- Ability to perform in process assembly inspections.
- Monitor work quality to ensure functionality.
- Ensure that caution is exercised when using chemicals – follow all SDS.
- Maintain a safe work environment.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Skill/Knowledge & Other Requirements:
- Associate degree or certification in manufacturing technology, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in manufacturing environment. Consideration of this position will be based on Employee tenure, experience, performance, skills as well as knowledge in the Detectors/Contamination Monitor Assembler responsibilities.
- Responsible for maintaining a clean work area in a safe litter-free condition.
- Ability to read, write and speak English.
- Ability to operate required equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently.
- Ability to understand and follow instructions based on manuals, drawings, blue prints, diagrams and schematics.
- Ability of perform testing on the contamination monitors and detectors based on test procedures.
- Strong hand-eye coordination, speed and accuracy are essential to operate equipment safely and efficiently in order to maximize production and minimize waste.
- Knowledgeable in proper safety standards and procedures and be proficient in the safe operation of various gases, hand tools, power tools, precision instruments, dial caliper, etc.
Other Skills/Knowledge:
- Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Office, and Linex.
- Safety background or certifications.
- Experience in shipping and receiving.
Physical Requirements:
- Physical movements include lifting, standing, walking, crouching, kneeling and bending around equipment, pushing and pulling equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently.
- Tedious and repetitious activities and movements.
- Use of Personal Protection Equipment will be required such as safety shoes and safety glasses.
