Job Title: Estimator Construction Projects
Location: Windsor/Essex County, ON
Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join a growing construction team. This role is essential in providing accurate and timely estimates for construction projects, ensuring that they meet quality standards and cost-effectiveness. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction methods and an ability to manage quantity take-offs, subcontractor pricing, and contract negotiations. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed construction estimates and tenders for various projects.
- Perform quantity take-offs, coordinate with sub-trades, and evaluate pricing for different scopes of work using first principles.
- Update and maintain databases for subcontractors and construction costs.
- Analyze vendor and subcontractor estimates to ensure they align with project scope and cost expectations.
- Continuously strive to enhance the estimating function by integrating modern technologies.
- Assist the estimating team to ensure timely completion of estimates while ensuring the best pricing options are considered and vetted.
- Support the project team with contract change orders and ensure overall quality control to meet high service standards.
- Upon project award, assist in contracting with sub-trades to ensure quality service and economic targets are met.
- Foster a positive and productive team environment within the company and affiliated organizations.
- Maintain the highest quality standards to represent the companys image in the community.
Key Qualifications:
- Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- Prior estimating experience is an asset.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and contract documents.
- Strong written communication skills for developing proposals.
- Knowledge of standard project management software (Word, Excel, MS Project) and estimating software.
- Proficiency with cost estimating software is an asset.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Adaptability to a flexible work schedule when required to meet project timelines.
- Valid drivers license and ability to travel as needed.
- Experience in cost tracking and project management is an asset.
- Familiarity with contract language and terms and conditions is an asset.
- Certification by the Canadian Institute of Quantity Surveyors (CIQS) is an asset.
Travel Requirements:
- Regular travel to project locations and client meetings within the Windsor/Essex County area, with occasional travel outside of this region as needed.
