We are seeking a full-time Analyst II Chemistry for our Edmonton location.
This position provides the opportunity to work for a growing company, achieve professional growth within the organization and cross-train in a variety of analytical chemistry techniques.
Reporting to the Laboratory Supervisor, the Analyst will be responsible for the routine testing of client supplied samples in accordance with standard operating procedures, generation, interpretation and management of analytical data and troubleshooting and maintenance of analytical instruments.
Skills required but not limited to:
- Prepare analytical standards
- Perform daily balance, temperature, and monthly pipette verification
- Process complex low-volume and high-volume methods (i.e., Pesticides, Assays, etc.)
- Working with HPLC, GC, ICP, and LC, and performing routine maintenance of instrumentation to keep method/equipment operational.
- Troubleshooting basic instrument or method failures and working with senior staff to troubleshoot more complex issues.
- Maintain records of raw data in lab notebooks
- Record final data in LIMs database
- SOP review and update
- Calibrate and maintain analytical instruments
- Perform installation qualification and operation qualification (or instrumental calibration)
- Adhere to regulatory guidelines, including GMP and ISO17025.
- Maintaining a safe, organized, and efficient analytical laboratory space.
- Train new employees.
- The employee shall implement the Laboratory Quality Policy and perform their duties in accordance with existing project-specific requirements, current Test Methods, study plans, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
- Compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures and wearing required Personal Protective equipment at all times
- Other duties as assigned
Qualification Requirements:
- BSc in Chemistry or technology
- Experience with HPLC, GC, ICP or LC instrumentation
- Working knowledge of GMP and/or ISO17025 guidelines
- Minimum 1-3 years laboratory experience
Work Environment and Physical Demand:
- Requires light physical effort. Occasionally lifts or moves light objects (under 15 lbs.).
- Walks, sits or stands for prolonged periods.
- Requires prolonged machine operation including keyboard and computer.
