Job Summary
Fraser Academy is seeking a full-time Science Lab and Teacher Assistant to join our team. As a Lab and Teacher Assistant, you will play an important role in developing scientific thinking in students and promoting science throughout the school. You will work with a collaborative, dynamic team of educators and staff who are passionate about the success of all learners. This role requires someone with good technical science skills who can assist teachers in preparing and delivering labs, demonstrations and activities that help develop a passion for science and learning in the students. This role reports to the Head of Department for Science.
Fraser Academy is a fully accredited day school, which focuses on educating students in Grades 2-12 with language-based learning disabilities. These students are taught in small class sizes with up to ten to twelve students. Each student receives one-to-one language training daily and works with a variety of subject specialist teachers. Fraser Academy is also an accredited member of the Canadian Accredited Independent Schools (CAIS), the Independent Schools Association of British Columbia (ISABC), the International Dyslexia Association (IDA), and the Federation of Independent Schools Association (FISA).
Position: Maternity Leave Cover (Full-time)
Term: December 2024 until December 2025

Responsibilities
- Support the science department in preparing and running engaging and interesting science activities, labs, and demonstrations
- Support students become scientific thinkers while gaining knowledge in scientific topics
- Order and maintain science supplies and equipment and support the science budget

Requirements
- 4 Year Bachelor's Degree in a scientific field of study
- 1+ years of experience working with students
- Work with students who have learning differences preferred
- Independent school experience, Bachelor's of Education, and coaching/extracurricular experience are all assets.
