OPERATIONS MANAGER

Are you passionate about Safety & Security and seeking opportunities in the development of Security Professionals?

A.S.P. is looking for an Operations Manager with aviation experience, who plays a crucial role in overseeing the entire ASP Security operations. This role requires a strategic and dynamic leader who will manage the operations team, ensure efficient service delivery, cultivate stakeholder relationships, and actively participate in events to enhance the airport's reputation and engagement with its stakeholders.

What you will do:

  • Lead, mentor, and supervise a team of two managers, 6+ supervisors, and over 75 unionized employees, cultivating a cohesive and high-performing team culture.
  • Provide guidance and support to the operations team, setting clear expectations and fostering a sense of ownership in achieving company objectives.
  • Devise and implement strategies to enhance operational processes, streamline workflows, and optimize overall efficiency.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure operational performance aligns with or surpasses set targets, promptly addressing any deviations.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancement and cost optimization while upholding service quality standards.
  • Establish standardized processes and procedures, including shift inspections, training/certification, incident reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Oversee service delivery in alignment with TPIA's quality benchmarks and client expectations.
  • Foster strong relationships with clients, partners, vendors, and regulatory bodies, ensuring open communication and alignment of goals.
  • Prepare regular reports detailing operational performance, identifying trends, challenges, and improvement prospects.
  • Present insights and recommendations to senior management, contributing to the enhancement of operations and stakeholder relationships.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations, establish individual and team objectives, and offer coaching and professional development opportunities.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels, training, and qualifications to meet service requirements and demands.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, contractual obligations, industry standards, and government regulations.
  • Enforce adherence to established rules, policies, and procedures, upholding company General Orders.
  • Address operational issues, complaints, and deficiencies promptly and efficiently, implementing corrective measures as needed.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee "Day of" security activities, collaborating with client representatives to ensure seamless operations.
  • Facilitate procurement, maintenance, and replacement of necessary equipment and supplies for service delivery.
  • Establish and uphold a system for monitoring, auditing, tracking, and reporting service quality against Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Participate in maintaining the ISO 9001:2015 Quality System and associated reviews and audits.
  • Foster a positive labour relationship with Unifor and ensure effective / efficient grievance resolution.
  • Contribute to HR functions and including recruitment, training, discipline, and skills development, ensuring a capable and skilled workforce.

Who you are:

  • Post-Secondary education with a Certificate, Diploma or Degree or equivalent work related/industry experience
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in an aviation management, preferably in a security, customer service and/or airport/airline operations environment
  • People management and experience working with a large, unionized workforce
  • 10+ years operations experience with a strong focus on metrics, including a solid knowledge of KPI's and SLA's
  • Valid Ontario Security License, maintained in good standing
  • Able to obtain and maintain a valid Transportation Security Clearance and Airport Restricted Area Identity Card (RAIC)
  • Able to work a rotating shift schedule, including nights, weekends and statutory holidays on site
  • Successfully complete all initial and recurrent company training (initial training is a pre-requisite for employment)
  • Airport/Terminal Operations experience is highly desirable
  • Valid CPR and First Aid Certificate is an asset
  • Prior experience with scheduling and/or workforce planning systems preferred
