Job Scope

Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the Shop Hand is expected to coordinate and collaborate with all Shop staff to ensure the smooth and effective operation of the shop and yard.

Job Responsibilities

  • Always maintain a Safety Mindset and contribute to a Positive Workplace Culture.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the shop and yard on an ongoing basis. Including, bay cleanliness, tool placement and inventory maintenance, log maintenance, etc.
  • Maintain the Parts Room; shipping and receiving requirements such as verifying accuracy of the shipments and cross reference inventory counts and requirements.
  • Wash Trucks and Trailers as requested.
  • Maintain effective communication by providing regular updates and shift handoffs.
  • Operate equipment such as Scissorlift, Forklift, and Skid Steer.
  • Operate the Tire Machine and Wheel balancing machine.
  • Operate and position Trucks and Trailers in the shop and yard in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Assist heavy duty technicians as needed.
  • Perform surface level Trailer inspection as requested/trained by the Shop Foreman
  • Perform additional tasks as required.

Qualifications Required:

  • Forklift Certification considered an asset.
  • Skid steer Certification considered an asset.
  • Class 1 or Class 3 Licence is considered an asset.
  • Minimum of 1 of experience
  • Fluent in English

Work Environment and Conditions

  • Exposure to dust, dirt, shop noise, water, and vibrations
  • Severe weather exposure such as extreme cold or heat.
