- Implements recreation programs which include activities such as outings, parties, exercises, crafts and entertainment.
- Organizes resident activities and trips outside the facility while ensuring that the residents have proper clothing and necessary equipment for the activity, confirms details of the proposed activity with nursing/administration staff, coordinates the movement of residents during the activity and teaches the techniques of the related activity.
- Consults with family and nursing staff in order to determine the activities which meet the residents' needs.
- Designs an appropriate variety of recreation programs tailored to resident needs.
- Monitors and evaluates resident progress through activity programs and reports observations such as emotional wellbeing and social behavior to nursing staff as required.
- Maintains Inventory of equipment, tools and materials and reports malfunctioning equipment and supply needs to the appropriate staff.
- Graduate from a recognized Activity/Recreation Certificate or diploma program.
- Experience in a senior's focused recreation department an asset.
- Health Care Provider level First Aid Certificate (Current).
- Proof of COVID vaccination.
