Job Description

Supporting the Grocery Merchandising team, this position will be responsible for designing store planograms by location and department using Farm Boy software that enables clear direction and timely execution for merchandising strategies. The performance of the duties must ensure a quality service approach to all customers, employees and suppliers. All responsibilities must be performed in a manner consistent with the Farm Boy Way.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Design planograms for a variety of departments considering items such as space planning, product information, inventory levels, and sales volume per square feet of retail space.
  • Liaise with various teams regarding planogram timing and execution, providing seasonal guides and weekly merchandising updates.
  • Analyze past and current sales patterns to recommend volume and placement of facings and products.
  • Maintain planogram programs by photographing and organizing images of products, uploading required information, planning new product launches and provide troubleshooting.
  • Assist in the success of new product launches with strategic, coordinated planograms.
  • Provide innovative visual aesthetics through planograms and develop creative ways to merchandise product.
  • Attend weekly meetings with cross-functional teams to participate in business discussions, provide space planning expertise and contribute to strategic merchandising plans.
  • Drive continuous improvement through strategic thinking and identify process and streamlining opportunities to gain efficiencies for in-store execution.
  • Support the Retail Operations team through audits and training to assist in providing the best shopping experience for all Farm Boy customers through optimization of space planning.
  • Ability to travel throughout Ontario to assist with setting up planograms and merchandising as required.
  • Coordinate and with all stakeholders in the execution of backend administrative work including product listings, store task management and supplier follow-ups.
  • May be requested to undertake other related duties on a periodic basis.
Qualifications
  • Typically requires completion of a post-secondary education, plus 2 to 3 years of experience in the retail food industry or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experienced in design fundamentals as they would pertain to grocery space management.
  • Experience working in a fast-paced environment that requires deadlines to be met in a timely fashion.
  • Organized and structured approach towards project management and delivery of tasks.
  • Contemporary minded with understanding of current food trends.
  • High level of knowledge for Microsoft Office – Excel, Word and Power Point.
  • Aptitude for learning various software platforms as they pertain to job related responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Detail oriented with exceptional organizational skills.

  • Stress from open office noise.
  • Sitting for long periods of time at workstations (e.g. while keyboarding).
  • Lack of control over pace due to multiple and/or tight deadlines beyond one's control.
  • Exposure to eye strain from computer terminals.
