The Mechanical Engineer Project Manager role is a remote position based in the Vancouver/Lower Mainland area. You are a trained professional engineer, passionate about improving existing mechanical building services. You are a highly motivated team player who thinks outside the box and has a drive to mentor and lead junior and intermediate engineers, designers and project managers.
This is a newly created role for the TCG team and we are excited to be expanding our business and offering our services in Western Canada. The individual in this role must be comfortable with a remote first set-up and frequent site/client visits.
Your Role Responsibilities:
- Ensure the proper execution of all mechanical
- Participate in business development initiatives to help grow the revenue for mechanical
- Help create engineering quality control processes (SOP's) by developing best practice.
- Perform a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard engineering and design techniques.
- Work with multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents for issuance to architects, contractors and building owners. Collaborate and coordinate with internal project discipline team members and equipment vendors and manufacturers.
- Assist the design team with design and construction management.
- Design mechanical systems for buildings including lighting, power, and life safety systems.
- Prepare calculations and specifications.
- Develop equipment rooms layouts, floor plan, and one-line diagrams.
- Ensure the proper execution of electrical related projects under supervision of the Vice President.
- Develop drawings, preliminary layouts, and sketches utilizing computer-assisted design/drafting programs.
- Review projects with Vice President and distribute to team resources.
- Perform construction administration tasks.
- Survey and evaluate existing mechanical systems at job sites.
- Attend client meetings and contribute to discussions alongside the Manager of Business Development (also located in Vancouver)
- Share project objectives with team.
- Be responsible for the quality of deliverables, costs, schedules, and project efficiencies.
- Develop relationships with clients, meet expectations, and ensure their satisfaction.
- Participate in business development, as required.
- Build relationships with external clients and meet company growth objectives.
What You'll Bring To TCG:
- Minimum 6-8 years of consulting engineering experience with a strong technical background in mechanical design, associated with building engineering and facilities system upgrades or equipment replacement.
- Experience with preparing feasibility reports, mechanical calculations.
- Experience with managing a team of engineers, PM's, designers, CAD technicians etc.
- Experience with managing project financials (asset to have), using an ERP system (i.e. Deltek Ajera or similar)
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Registered as a Professional Engineer in British Columbia. Familiarity with industry standards and codes.
- Proficient in the use of computers for making engineering calculations, spreadsheets, and report writing. Competent with Microsoft office package.
- Eng. Designation in British Columbia is required.
- Good working knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing and Fire Protection Systems.
- Knowledge and understanding of codes in British Columbia.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a drive and ability to collaborate and problem solve as part of a team.
- Ability to utilize both verbal and written forms of communication to effectively communicate internally with colleagues as well as externally with clients.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects working in a fast-paced environment to meet project deadlines.
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD and MS Office Applications.
- Ability to travel to/from client sites (valid driver's license and access to a vehicle for travel is a must).
