Salary:
Location: Cenovus - Christina Lake
Shift Schedule: 7/7
Hours: 12 hours daily
Accommodations: On site camp
Travel: Flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary
Equipment Required: 4x4 1500 series truck (less than 10 years old) and tools
Position Responsibilities:
- Construct, erect and repair buildings and other structures made of wood, wood substitutes, steel, and other materials, as needed.
- Follow all OH&S and Cenovus Safety Standards, Practices and Work procedures;
- Participate in Cenovus toolbox, monthly safety meetings and other meetings as directed by the Coordinator NPI Trades;
- Assist the Coordinator NPI Trades to identify maintenance and shutdown priorities;
- Report all hazardous conditions, near misses and accidents;
- Identify improvement opportunities for equipment and maintenance activities;
- Participate in rotational on-call for after hours work and respond, as required;
- Perform routine preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance and equipment troubleshooting activities;
- Use Cenvous's SAP system for maintenance notifications, maintenance work, parts, maintenance records and maintenance work schedules;
- Participate in the maintenance planning and scheduling process and perform work as required by the plans and schedule;
- Assist the Cenovus Coordinator NPI Trades in achieving desired maintenance KPI's including cost, schedule, safety and quality.
OH&S Responsibilities of Position
- Take reasonable care to protect the health and safety of the worker and of other persons at or in the vicinity of the work site while the worker is working
- Cooperate with the worker's supervisor or employer or any other person for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of the worker
- Cooperate with the worker's supervisor or employer or any other person for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of other workers engaged in the work of the employer
- Cooperate with the worker's supervisor or employer or any other person for the purpose of protecting the health and safety of other workers not engaged in the work of the employer but present at the work site at which the work is being carried out
- At all times, when the nature of the work requires, use all devices, and wear all personal protective equipment designated for the worker's protection by the worker's employer or required to be used or worn by the worker by the OHS Act, regulations, and the OHS Code
- Refrain from causing or participating in harassment or violence
- Report to the employer or supervisor a concern about an unsafe or harmful work site act that occurs or has occurred or an unsafe or harmful work site condition that exists or has existed
- Participate in any training provided by the employer
- Cooperate with any person exercising a duty imposed by the OHS Act, the regulations, and the OHS Code
- A worker who is not competent to perform work that may endanger the worker, or others shall not perform the work except under the direct supervision of a worker who is competent to perform the work
Competency Requirements:
- Proficient in general carpentry tasks, with growing skills in blueprint reading and code compliance.
- Planning and execution to support larger projects.
- Familiar with basic abatement procedures.
- Good understanding of carpentry principles, including framing, drywall installation, and basic finish work.
- Effective in project support and environmental safety practices.
Technical Certification:
- Carpentry Trade Certification with additional courses in blueprint reading.
- Class 5 driver's license
