Job Summary
The Product Line Sales Manager serves as product line champion aligned by business objectives and acts as an outward facing subject matter expert serving as the primary intermediary between sales and the business teams. This position typically specializes in a single product line or business area and is responsible for selling complex technical solutions to the internal and external customer bases. They will work closely with the regional sales team to help coordinate and support sales and proposal efforts and act as a product expert to assist in closing complex and/or strategic deals. The Product Line Sales Manager will also work closely with Sales, Finance and Business Management to develop and administer a business forecast for planning purposes. They will continue to develop their experience in the role through product training, market research, business education and field experience with customers.
YOU WILL BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR:
- Primary interface between the Sales and Business Management Teams
- Represent product line to the customer and translate the needs of the customer to the product line team and vice versa.
- Proactively drive activity on a daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis to achieve these product line business goals.
- Identify and execute launch plans (example: distribution channel and mini campaigns) and contribute to the development of product marketing materials.
- Support and collaborate with Account Managers on customer meetings, discussions, and product demonstrations.
- Participate in demos and tradeshow as needed for product line representation.
- Support with quoting standard products and custom products requests.
- Contribute to major capture teams as needed.
- Coordinate sales efforts with other departments to ensure qualified responses to customer requests.
- Survey the market to provide customer-oriented inputs and collaborate with Sales Intelligence/Business Managers/Tech Directors to drive product line roadmaps.
- Generate business cases for sustaining engineering and new product development.
- Identify and suggest new market approaches to drive growth and profitability into the business.
- Work closely with Sales Operations, Finance and Business Management to develop a business plan:
- Develop and administer a global order forecast.
- Assist with production schedule leveling.
- Provide guidance on anticipated revenue recognition.
- Provide weekly/monthly/quarterly report inputs as required.
- Ensure unique product customizations meet or exceed customer requirements and remain profitable to the CPI business.
- Coordinate with project managers in program review meetings to align development activities with customer requirements and industry trends.
- Monitor product performance in the field and facilitate product improvements as markets and customer needs evolve.
- Actively participate in sales and marketing meetings by discussing regional trends and feedback, presenting new marketing initiatives, reporting on progress with ongoing initiatives, guiding Development Engineering and Customer Support activities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience is required.
- Working knowledge of basic financial concepts
- Understanding of the SATCOM markets
- Working knowledge of order pipeline analysis and forecasting
- Demonstrated experience in planning, budgeting, and developing business strategies.
Must be able to meet all CGD requirements.
