As a Sanitation Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of our sanitation department. You will lead a team of dedicated professionals to ensure that our facility meets and exceeds all GMP and cleaning standards. Your ability to effectively manage and motivate your team, while maintaining a high level of compliance with regulatory requirements, will be crucial to your success in this role. You will also play a key role in ensuring the proper disposal of waste, adherence to environmental regulations, and the ongoing development of your team members.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead sanitation employees in a multi shift 24-hour bakery production operation
  • Monitor and enforce GMP compliance by all operators
  • Ensure compliance of all employees to weekly / monthly training schedule
  • Executes the sanitation cleaning plans based on established priorities and sequences for the bakery facility
  • Executes the sanitation cleaning plan and provides priorities and resources for sanitation to deliver high level of service and ensure minimum costs and operational delays
  • Work closely with other departments to achieve organizational goals
  • Manages employee performance, discipline, and development. Ensures compliance to company policies and procedures
  • Dispose of all forms of waste in a legal and cost-effective manner
  • Ensure facility meets all municipal and provincial wastewater regulations
  • Ensure the sanitation is trained to handle any potentially hazardous cleaning agents
  • Adherence to the master cleaning schedule
  • Providing leadership and performance development to employees
  • Flexibility around shift work is required with availability for overtime hours
  • Ensure that all employees are aware of their responsibilities specific to food safety, legality and quality
  • Adhere to food safety practices and ensure they are being followed
  • Oversee Pest Control Program
  • Perform all other duties assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in food science or related discipline is required
  • 3-5 years management experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred
  • 5-7 years experience managing a sanitation department in a food manufacturing environment is preferred
  • A good knowledge of GMP, HACCP and Safety policies
  • Must be organized, goal oriented, problem solver and able to lead sanitation department
  • Flexibility around shift work is required with availability for overtime hours as needed
  • Proper understanding of WHMIS requirements
  • Must have excellent attendance and work habits
