Job DescriptionWe have a Temporary Part-Time Clinical Extern position available in the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) department. Please apply to explore your next career opportunity with a progressive organization, where our people are at the heart of everything that we do!
The clinical extern will support the QPS team with quality improvement projects, patient safety incident management process and other administrative duties as required.
Qualifications- Nursing Students enrolled in a CNO approved baccalaureate-nursing program who are in their final year of study
- Demonstrated evidence of excellent academic standing
- Completion of mandatory/required certifications provided via corporate orientation, including extern orientation, and as defined by program (e.g., Mask Fit Test, WHIMS, AODA, IPAC)
- Strong interest in quality improvement and patient safety
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and designing software (e.g., Canva, Visio)
- Experience working with healthcare information systems and electronic health records
Core Competencies:
- Works under the direct and/or indirect supervision of the Director of Quality and Patient Safety and Quality Improvement Consultants while adhering to organizational policies and professional standards, and taking into account CNO's guidance for working as unregulated care providers
- Requests assistance with assigned duties whenever needed
- Demonstrates excellent problem-solving, decision-making, and critical thinking skills
- Demonstrates excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Demonstrates initiative, creativity, and adaptability to work in a dynamic environment
- Actively engages as a collaborative team member
Additional Information
Hours: Currently Days 8 hours, Monday to Friday (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
Clinical Externs will be hired on contract, during which the Clinical Extern will work part time hours (minimum 15 to 24 hours per week) to a maximum of full‐time hours (37.5 hours per week)
