One of our packaging clients is looking for a Machine Operator at Cornwall, ON location for their facility.

Pay - $20.50/hourShift - AfternoonKey Responsibilities:
  1. Operations & Monitoring:

    • Operate and monitor plant equipment and machinery to ensure efficient production processes.
    • Perform regular inspections and checks to detect any malfunctions or performance issues.
    • Adjust machinery settings as needed to ensure optimal operation.
  2. Maintenance & Repairs:

    • Conduct routine maintenance on equipment and machinery, following prescribed schedules and manufacturer guidelines.
    • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize downtime.
    • Collaborate with the maintenance team to perform more complex repairs and equipment overhauls.
  3. Safety & Compliance:

    • Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to ensure a safe working environment.
    • Monitor and maintain compliance with operational safety standards and regulations.
    • Report any safety hazards or equipment malfunctions to supervisors and take immediate action where necessary.
  4. Documentation & Reporting:

    • Maintain accurate logs of equipment operations, maintenance activities, and any repairs performed.
    • Assist in preparing operational reports for management to track production efficiency and equipment performance.
    • Complete work orders and other required documentation using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  5. Collaboration & Communication:

    • Work closely with other team members, including engineers and maintenance staff, to ensure seamless operation and troubleshooting.
    • Communicate any operational or maintenance challenges to the Operations Manager or relevant departments.
    • Assist with the training of new team members on the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
  6. Continuous Improvement:

    • Proactively suggest improvements to operational processes and maintenance routines to enhance productivity and reduce downtime.
    • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives, such as lean manufacturing or 5S, to help optimize plant operations.
Key Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanical, electrical, or industrial maintenance is preferred.
  • 2-4 years of experience in an operational or maintenance role within a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Strong knowledge of machinery operation, repair, and maintenance procedures.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and the ability to maintain compliance in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing issues.
  • Basic computer skills for logging maintenance data and completing work orders.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team, with strong communication and organizational skills.
