Nature of PositionThe Rehabilitation Assistant works as part of an interdisciplinary team to implement therapy programs with children and their families. Effective collaboration, communication and organizational skills will be paramount for this position. Services will be delivered in family homes, in clinic, in community settings and by virtual platforms. Departmental assignments are subject to operational and departmental needs.
- Work with designated OT/PT to carry out established intervention plans
- Provide 1:1 client sessions under the direction of PT/OT
- Lead child and family group sessions developed in collaboration with OT/PT
- Assist in the modification of PT/OT intervention plans
- Report observation of client's progress to supervising therapist
- Maintain up to date client records
- Responsible for the maintenance of the equipment library, including safety and quality of items
- Complete intake screening, assist with booking appointments
- A Rehabilitation/Therapy Assistant diploma, an Early Childhood Educator diploma, an equivalent education with two years' experience working with young children with diverse abilities and/or experience working with early intervention therapies
- Recent, related experience working in Pediatric Physiotherapy or Occupational Therapy is an asset
- Proven collaboration, communication and consultation skills
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proven organization and time management skills are required
- Ability to adapt to change and embrace new technology
- Competency using a virtual platform, electronic client record system and word processing software
- Successful Criminal Record Check
- TB Test
- A valid WCB-approved First Aid Certificate (OFA Level 1)
- A valid WCB-approved Child Safe Certificate
- Successful candidate must have a valid BC driver's license and access to reliable transportation
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
