We're looking for a highly experienced and motivated Senior Associate Fire Protection Consultant with extensive experience in fire protection and life safety consulting. The successful candidate will play a critical role in new construction, renovation, and existing building projects, ensuring meticulous application of Building and Fire Codes. This position requires a strong team player with excellent communication skills, the ability to manage complex projects, and the capability to mentor junior associates.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct thorough reviews of building plans to ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards.
- Develop and propose innovative alternative solutions to meet fire protection and life safety requirements.
- Communicate professionally with clients, authorities, and staff, ensuring clear and effective information exchange.
- Engage in continuous professional development through conferences, seminars, and presentations.
- Generate new business opportunities, build and maintain a robust client base.
- Oversee projects, manage related administrative duties, and lead internal project teams effectively.
- Prepare comprehensive project proposals, showcasing our capabilities and solutions.
- Perform quality assurance reviews on documentation prepared by other associates to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Inspect and evaluate existing buildings to the applicable fire codes, ensuring safety and compliance.
- Attend and actively participate in project meetings, providing expert insights and guidance.
- Prepare detailed Code reports and other technical documents.
- Expertly interpret and apply building and fire codes to various project types, including new constructions, renovations, and existing buildings.
Skills and Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years of Code consulting experience with a proven track record of superior performance.
- Strong understanding of fire and life safety engineering principles.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a Diploma in Fire Protection or Architectural Technology.
- Deep expertise in Building and Fire Codes and associated standards.
- Proficient in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office software.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and efficient completion.
- Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and workloads.
- Comprehensive knowledge of building design and construction processes.
- Ability to travel for meetings and building audits.
- Commitment to providing exceptional customer service.
- Strong work ethic with meticulous attention to detail.
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Limited Engineering Technologist (LET) designation (or eligibility to obtain LET) is preferred.
- Ability to work independently, developing code-compliant and alternative solutions.
- Willingness to mentor and provide training to less experienced associates.
