With offices in Burnaby, Kelowna, Victoria, and Courtenay, BC, we are looking for experienced and enthusiastic Utility Locating Technicians wanting to further their careers and grow with our passionate and forward-thinking team. We are the only locating provider in BC with Registered Utility Locator Technicians (RULT) and we take pride in our commitment to innovation and excellence.
Our technicians locate underground utilities on-site using geophysical equipment such as Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), interpret and mark results, collecting data to draft detailed reports such as Subsurface Utilities Engineering (SUE).
The ideal candidate will have an industry-related qualification and utility locating experience. Knowledge of GPR systems is an asset.
As a Utility Locating Technician, your day-to-day responsibilities may include:
- Visiting various work sites (will be required to work in all weather conditions), as well as work in the office
- Reading and interpreting site plans, construction print data and maps, to assist in location of subsurface utility facilities
- Locating and marking subsurface utilities with a range of geophysical tools
- Providing digital drawings and detailed reports to clients, as well as communicating important subsurface utility findings with clients.
- Following all health and safety protocols
On your resume, we will be looking for the following:
- Valid class 5 BC driver's license and can provide a driving abstract as required for use of company vehicle
- Minimum 5 years of Utility Locating experience
- Experience interpreting or reading location maps, sketches, prints
- Strong computer skills; expertise in CAD software and GPS is considered an asset
- Experience with Electromagnetic (EM) survey equipment, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR)
