About the Opportunity

Our Finance team delivers precise and timely financial information to provide strategic insights across our organization and to fund holders. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Finance, we are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Fund and Investment Accounting Analyst. This role will focus on overseeing investments, transactions, and fund reporting with a particular emphasis on analyzing and understanding investment schedules of adjustments and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. This position offers an opportunity to excel in financial analysis, exposure to a large portfolio of investments, and contribute directly to our organization's success.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Conduct comprehensive financial analysis on existing portfolio of over $800 million of investments in a variety of asset classes
  • Read and interpret investment schedules of adjustments to assess financial impact and performance metrics
  • Collaborate with portfolio managers and accounting teams to reconcile investment data and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
  • Maintain proficiency in investment software tools and platforms to streamline analysis and reporting processes
  • Track and analyze cash flow and investment activities within the portfolio.
  • Conduct monthly reconciliations of investment manager statements and enter relevant financial transactions into the accounting system
  • Ensure accuracy in processing investment income allocations and reviewing management fees
  • Support the preparation of quarterly financial statements, dashboards and auditor working papers
  • Collaborate closely with operations and accounting teams to communicate insights effectively
  • Ensure all strategic decisions made by the Investment Advisory Committee are executed efficiently and effectively
  • Opportunity to engage in strategic conversations with senior professional lay leaders and direct communication with investment managers, providing valuable exposure to decision-making processes and investment strategy formulation.
  • Other duties and ad hoc requests as assigned

Requirements

  • Team player looking to achieve the goals and values of the Foundation
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • CPA designation or equivalent is an asset
  • Experience in Fund/Investment Accounting and general accounting experience
  • Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Excellent organization, analytical skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of systems including Microsoft products, Adobe, DocuSign, with advanced skills in Excel.
  • Ability to learn new systems
  • Experience in a not-for-profit organization is an asset

* This is a full-time permanent position, Union Level 4. At UJA we support a flexible work schedule and all of our employees engage in hybrid work.
