Reliability Manager

Position Summary:

Reporting to the General Manager, the Reliability Manager is responsible for overseeing the safe, efficient and fiscally responsible management of the reliability / preventative maintenance department. As the champion of our reliability / preventative maintenance group, the Reliability Manager provides technical expertise in project management, leadership, and is a reliability / preventative maintenance subject matter expert. The manager will provide strategic and tactical leadership in areas such as safety, uptime, efficiency, production, and quality.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage reliability activities to improve equipment availability based on industry best practices for rotating / reciprocating machinery, electrical and instrumentation systems, and pressure vessels / piping systems.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, failures, and opportunities for improvement
  • Management of the lubrication and vibration analyses programs.
  • Collaborates with production & maintenance to identify equipment utilization opportunities.
  • Manages downtime issues and builds a corrective action plan to reduce the downtime and ensure the mill's uptime is at or above target.
  • Participates in Quality Initiatives, continuous improvement processes, and quantitatively monitoring processes.
  • Leads the root cause and / or failure analysis programs.
  • Participates in planning capital projects and annual shut-down activities
  • Manages the life cycles of critical components and processes.
  • Performs regular daily rounds (visual inspections) to discover hazards and ensure work requests are submitted regarding maintenance requirements.
  • Implements, designs, utilizes, and enforces proactive safety steps. Participates in regular safety meetings with the goal of zero recordable or lost-time incidents on site.
  • Train and mentor team members on reliability principles and practices.

Education and Knowledge:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Manufacturing / Electrical / Mechanical)
  • Training and experience in relevant continuous process optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of continuous manufacturing process and reliability improvement methods.
  • Ability to organize, plan and establish a routine of activities
  • Proficient in statistical analysis and reliability software tools.
  • Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
